Institution Hosts Successful HR Summit to Bridge Employment Gap

Our institution recently hosted an HR Summit titled 'Bridging the Gap between the expectations of employers and the aspirations of the youth.' The event, which was the first of its kind on our campus, aimed to discuss factors and solutions for a growing mismatch between employers and young professionals.

The summit encouraged students to 'think and ask the right questions' in order to understand the design terrain and recruitment standards followed globally. Employers were also encouraged to adapt their recruitment practices to successfully engage young professionals.

The event included 10 panels with Industry Experts, Faculty, Alumni, and current students. Notable panelists included Leena Singh (Founder of Ashima Leena Design Pvt Ltd.), Shantanu Chakraborthy (Senior Director at Concentrix), Patanjali Sharma (Founder of Purple Monkey Production House), Shradha Garg (Vice President at Raj Overseas), Kajal Jain (Founder of Studio Meso), Rupila Tandon (HR at FabIndia), Rohit Krishan Gulati (Principal Architect at Incubis), Priyamwada Singh (Founder/Principal Architect at common Ground practice), and Shadan Raza Ahmed (Associate Director HR at Concentrix).

Ms. Shradha Garg, Vice President - Raj Overseas, highlighted the importance of a willingness to learn, adaptability, and team alignment in candidates. Ms. Rupila Tondon, HR of FabIndia, emphasized the relevance of knowing Indian crafts and textile techniques for the rural fashion industry.

Mr. Rohit Krishan Gulati, Principal Architect at Incubis, encouraged students to take every opportunity that comes their way, emphasizing the importance of starting from the beginning (zero) in professional projects. Ms. Leena Singh, Founder of Brand Ashima Leena, advised that understanding all aspects of an organization is crucial to enrich knowledge.

The HR Summit was a great initiative taken by the institution, appreciated by the industry professionals who attended, as they felt they didn't have such opportunities when they were starting their careers. The objective was to boost student morale and help them overcome inhibitions in the hiring process and job interviews.

We, the institution, look forward to continuing this practice of hosting HR summits in the years to come. The first summit was a wonderful learning opportunity for all present, providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and facilitating dialogues on concrete steps to bridge the employment gap.
