Astana German Language Center Marks 25 Years of Teaching, 27,000 Students
The Astana Language Learning Center, a beacon of German language education in Kazakhstan, has reached a significant milestone. Established in 2000, it has been teaching German and promoting intercultural understanding for 25 years, with over 27,000 participants and 20,000 exams taken under its roof.
The center's journey began in 1994 with a bilateral agreement between Germany and Kazakhstan. It started offering a wide range of courses, from express learning to specialized language classes and exam preparation. In 2009, it became a licensed test center of the Goethe-Institute, and in 2015, it was recognized as an official TestDaF center.
Over the years, the center has seen a growing number of young people eager to learn German for specific purposes like studying or working in Germany. Its action-oriented teaching approach, focusing on communicative competencies, has been a key to its success. In 2013, the center achieved full independence, financing all areas itself. Despite its achievements, significant milestones have not been widely documented.
Looking ahead, the Astana Language Learning Center plans to specialize its course offerings, expand integration courses, and grow in the digital realm. With the German language firmly rooted in Kazakhstan due to historical, economic, and cultural connections, the center's role in fostering language learning and intercultural understanding is set to continue for another 25 years and beyond.
