Battery Producer Wagers Large Scale Development on Previously Industrial Area in Buffalo, New York
In the heart of Buffalo, New York, a transformation is underway. This transformation is thanks to GreenForce, a workforce development programme co-founded by Jon Williams, the CEO of Viridi – a groundbreaking green energy company.
Jon Williams, a native of Niagara Falls, NY, established Viridi in 2015, reshoring its supply chain and setting up shop in an old General Motors plant that he rehabilitated in East Buffalo. Here, Viridi's automated battery production lines hum with game-changing automation, contributing to the city's green energy landscape.
The visit to the Viridi plant was a highlight of the third episode of Smart Manufacturers. Dennis Scimeca, the host, was captivated by what he saw. He shared that the story about Viridi is unlike any other he's chased, and speaking with Jon Williams and Jeff Conrad, the executive director of Green Force, was an honour.
GreenForce, a crucial component of Viridi, is designed to serve the needs of the local population in Buffalo. By providing the skills and support needed to thrive on the shop floor, GreenForce aims to empower the community and create a sustainable workforce for the future.
Viridi's commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles is evident on their unique website. They are not just producing green energy; they are doing so responsibly and with a focus on the well-being of their employees and the community.
During his tour of East Buffalo, Dennis Scimeca witnessed firsthand the impact GreenForce and Viridi are having on the local population. The visit was a testament to Jon Williams' vision for a greener, more skilled, and more prosperous Buffalo.
In a world where the demand for green energy is ever-increasing, Viridi stands as a beacon of innovation and community engagement. With GreenForce providing a pathway for local residents to join the green energy revolution, the future looks bright for both the company and the city of Buffalo.
