Bundled abilities and quick shortcuts in Bremen: an overview
The State of Bremen has announced the launch of a new agency, the State Agency for Further Training and Transformation (LabeW+). The agency, which aims to support businesses and employees in securing their future, is a merger of the previous state agency for vocational training, LabeW, and the RKW service units "Work and Family" and "German at the Workplace".
The new agency, located at RKW Bremen GmbH, was visited by Senator Dr. Claudia Schilling, State Secretary for Labor Karin Treu, project leader Thorbjörn Ferber, RKW Managing Director Harm Wurthmann, and Prokurist Martin Schulze. Harm Wurthmann emphasized that LabeW+ offers a central and free point of contact for businesses, employees, and job seekers in Bremen.
One of the key services offered by LabeW+ is the Service Unit "German at the Workplace". This unit focuses on enhancing the transparency and awareness of existing offers through cooperation with network partners. It offers occupational language training or coaching, conducts language proficiency assessments, and provides support for occupation-specific language acquisition for vocational qualification and further training. The unit also conceptualizes individual measures in companies and offers workshops on "simple language at the workplace".
In addition to the Service Unit "German at the Workplace", LabeW+ offers a range of services through its other units. The Service Unit "Vocational Training" (formerly LabeW) provides counseling for obtaining a vocational qualification through external exams (NQE), business consulting, funding opportunities for businesses and employees, vocational training for skilled workers, securing the workforce, Bremen Further Training Check, Qualification Bonus for employees, and occupation-related further training counseling.
The importance of qualification and vocational training is growing significantly, according to Dr. Schilling. She stated that the labor market is changing rapidly and companies need to adapt and focus on personnel development. Through cooperation with network partners, LabeW+ aims to enhance the transparency and awareness of existing offers, providing more comprehensive support to job seekers and companies by leveraging synergies and close networking of actors.
