CAA Office Thrives Online: Digital Services Adapt to Pandemic
The Central Academic Advising (CAA) office has adapted to the pandemic, offering digital and online services for students and prospective students. Kristin Busch, a CAA advisor, has seen her work shift significantly to remote platforms.
Before the pandemic, Busch's role primarily involved face-to-face advising sessions and meetings. However, with the onset of the pandemic, the CAA office closed its on-site open office hours a year ago. Since then, Busch's work has moved predominantly to Fafsa platforms, with a notable increase in remote work.
The CAA has developed new digital formats to maintain advisory support despite contact restrictions. These include the 'Virtual Student Talk' and online university information days. The office also offers individual advice via video and phone, telephone advice without prior appointment, and email support. Busch hopes that students and prospective students can find positive aspects in the challenging pandemic situation. She expects these digital formats to continue alongside on-site offers even after the pandemic.
