In the heart of Kazakhstan, Astana (officially known as Nur-Sultan) is undergoing a significant transformation as part of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's nationwide initiative to modernize 1300 schools across the country by 2027.

This ambitious project aims to upgrade infrastructure, enhance digital learning environments, and improve safety systems in schools, creating a modern and functional educational setting. The programme encompasses renovating buildings, installing modern digital equipment, improving internet connectivity, upgrading fire alarm and security systems, and creating safer, more comfortable environments conducive to quality education.

In Astana, the focus of the renovation projects is on upgrading classrooms with interactive digital boards and improved ICT equipment, installing modern fire alarm and security surveillance systems, improving heating, ventilation, and overall infrastructure, enhancing accessibility and ergonomics within school buildings, and modernizing libraries, auditoriums, sports halls, and dining rooms.

The 2021 phase of the project saw the identification of key schools across major cities for immediate renovation and upgrading, with a multi-year rollout planned to hit full coverage by 2027. This year, schools No. 1, 14, 21, 35, 61, and 69 in Astana are undergoing renovations due to high student populations and aging infrastructure.

The renovations will also include restoring engineering networks and building structures, renewing heating, ventilation, water supply, and sewage systems, installing low-current systems, and carrying out roof, facade, and interior repairs. Modern security systems will be installed, and new furniture will be provided.

However, the exact schools renovated in 2021 and the detailed technical scopes of the renovations can be found in official government releases from Kazakhstan's Ministry of Education or relevant local authorities. As of now, current search results do not contain such targeted data.

According to the approved plan for 2025-2027, capital repairs will take place in 22 schools in Astana. The timeline for the completion of the renovations in each school remains undisclosed.

The goal of these renovations is to create a safe, modern, and functional educational environment that supports the contemporary educational process and prepares students for the future. Despite the lack of specific information on the funding sources for the project in Astana, the excitement and anticipation for the modernized schools are palpable among the local community.

Education and self-development are at the forefront of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's nationwide initiative, as he aims to modernize learning environments in schools across Kazakhstan by 2027. This transformation includes upgrading infrastructure, improving digital learning, and enhancing safety systems, ensuring a conducive and contemporary education for every student.
