Adrian Tantiado Sajulga, a third-year Computer Science student at the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U), has made his mark in the IT industry after ranking Top 1 in the Philippines and Top 2 globally in the ITPEC-FE Certification Exam held in April 2025.

The ITPEC-FE Certification Exam, also known as the PhilNITS Fundamental Engineer exam, is organized by the Information Technology Professionals Examination Council (ITPEC) and evaluates a candidate's core IT knowledge, including software engineering, systems development, networking, and cybersecurity. The exam was held simultaneously across six Asian countries, including Vietnam.

Sajulga's success in the ITPEC-FE exam is a testament to his dedication and hard work. His preparation involved sacrifices and delving deep into concepts beyond his classroom lessons. He joined competitions like the Huawei ICT Competition and Hack4Gov, and prepared for certification exams like the ITPEC-FE.

Sajulga and his peers reviewed past ITPEC exams on the official website to prepare. They also used mock exam tools developed by a CIT alumnus to simulate the real test experience and understand the exam format and the kind of thinking it requires.

Sajulga attributes his success to his passion for IT and his strong drive to keep improving and pushing his limits. He mentioned that many examinees were from Cebu, particularly schools like CIT-U that actively prepare students for this international exam.

The 39th ITPEC-FE exam had 415 Filipinos registered, out of which 390 attended the exam, and 85 passed, resulting in a 21.8 percent national pass rate.

Certifications like the ITPEC-FE are significant for aspiring IT professionals, as they can lead to global recognition, career advancement, technical competence, a competitive advantage, and professional development. These certifications demonstrate a level of technical expertise, which is crucial for professionals seeking to specialize in specific areas of IT. In a competitive job market, having recognized certifications can give candidates an edge over others without them. Many certifications require ongoing education or recertification, which ensures professionals stay updated with the latest technologies and trends.

For those interested in IT certifications, it's essential to research and find certifications that align with their career goals and are recognized in their desired field and geographical location. If "ITPEC-FE" is a confused or mistaken term, it might be beneficial to explore other well-recognized certifications in the IT industry.

Adrian Tantiado Sajulga, having achieved top ranks in the ITPEC-FE Certification Exam, emphasizes the importance of this certification for education-and-self-development in the field of technology, particularly in the Philippines where it can lead to global recognition, career advancement, and professional development. Despite the challenging competition from Cebu, especially from schools like the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U), Sajulga's passion for IT and dedication to self-study allowed him to excel in this exam, showcasing the potential for Filipino students in the technology sector.
