Centennial Scholar Sania Musti Class of '27 Employs Her Enrichment Money at New York Fashion Week
Sania Musti, a fashion and textile management student at North Carolina State University's Wilson College of Textiles, recently had an unforgettable experience at New York Fashion Week (NYFW). Her journey began when she secured an internship with Communa-K, a New York City-based casting and production company.
During her internship, Sania was challenged to navigate the subway schedule and keep track of multiple composite cards and models. But these challenges only served to enrich her experience, as she gained valuable skills in front-of-house and backstage organization.
One of the highlights of Sania's internship was the opportunity to assist with the Son Jung Wan show. Watching the show live during NYFW was a meaningful enrichment experience for Sania, and it solidified her passion for luxury fashion. In fact, Sania considers her experience as a Centennial Scholar, which helped her achieve her childhood dream of working in luxury fashion, as invaluable.
The North Carolina Textile Foundation's Centennial Scholarship Program offers up to $22,000 in scholarship funding annually to students like Sania. This financial support enables students to pursue enriching educational and professional experiences, such as internships and hands-on projects that build critical industry skills and connections.
In addition to the scholarship funding, the Centennial Scholarship Program offers an additional $7,500 in enrichment funding to maximise the college experience of scholars. Sania used her enrichment funds to help organise a luxury show during NYFW.
Sania's donor for the Centennial Scholarship is Mr. Butts, and she expresses her sincere gratitude for his generosity. Without his support, Sania would not have been able to focus solely on her textile education without needing multiple part-time jobs.
Looking ahead, Sania plans to participate in future NYFW events and is grateful for the skills she learned during her internship, which she believes are essential for working in the fashion and textile industry. Her childhood self would be proud of her achievements, and Sania is excited to see what the future holds for her career in luxury fashion.
