Colorado Headlines:
The renowned Stanley Hotel in Estes Park has a new owner following its sale to a partnership named The Stanley Partnership for Art Culture and Education, LLC (SPACE), a public-private enterprise. This sale wrapped up on Thursday.
SPACE, established in 1981 by the General Assembly of Colorado as the Colorado Educational and Cultural Facilities Authority (CECFA), was instrumental in the deal, if not the primary acquirer. Private bond investors, John Cullen, and Sage Hospitality Group are also part of this partnership.
The hotel was fetching a hefty sum of $400 million in this sale, making it the most substantial real estate deal in the Estes Valley since the early 1900s.
John Cullen, who had owned the hotel for three decades, will don the hat of the chair and CEO for the new partnership. However, he will not be managing the hotel's day-to-day operations. Instead, Sage Hospitality Group takes the reins, collaborating with SPACE.
CECFA facilitated the funding of this purchase through a bond sale by offering tax-exempt bonds at lower interest rates to educational and cultural organizations like SPACE.
The primary objective of this partnership is to elevate the hotel's cultural and economic significance in the region, transforming it into a regional engine driving both culture and economy.
