Groundbreaking for the New Children and Family Center KuFZ Fluesseviertel in Bremen's Neustadt
Construction commencement for new preschools and schools in Bremen Neustadt
The city of Bremen is set to welcome a new Children and Family Center, KuFZ Fluesseviertel, and an expansion of the Inge-Katz School. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Friday, September 27th, marking the start of construction for this much-anticipated project.
Construction Details
The new building, scheduled for completion at the end of 2025, will accommodate a total of 150 students and ten teachers. The first floor will be dedicated to the Inge-Katz School, a vocational school for social pedagogy and household management. The school will have a separate entrance at the other end of the building to ensure smooth operations for both institutions.
Sustainable Design
The new building will be constructed as a passive house, promoting sustainability and energy efficiency. Key features include a green roof, an elevator, and a photovoltaic system. The building's design will also incorporate a rainwater harvesting system for irrigation and permeable surfaces in outdoor areas to reduce runoff.
Additional Kindergarten Places
Petra Zschuetzsch, deputy managing director and pedagogical director of KiTa Bremen, explained that the new center will intertwine its pedagogical work in the new building and create an additional twenty kindergarten places. The new building will accommodate six groups, including two nursery groups and four elementary groups.
Additional Offers
The new Children and Family Center Fluesseviertel will offer early promotion, a movement room, and differentiation rooms to cater to the diverse needs of its students. The school rooms on the first floor of the Inge-Katz School will be designed as open areas that can be divided by partitions, shelves, or curtains to create different learning landscapes.
Partnership and Funding
The project, totalling 14.7 million euros, is a collaborative effort between Immobilien Bremen, KiTa Bremen, and the Inge-Katz School. Representatives from these organisations were present at the groundbreaking ceremony to mark this significant milestone.
