Dubai Launches 'Employee to Entrepreneur' Programme to Boost Startups
Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) has launched the 'Employee to Entrepreneur Programme', empowering employees to become entrepreneurs. The initiative, backed by Oraseya Capital, offers access to DIEZ's infrastructure, services, and support to transform innovative ideas into successful startups.
The programme, structured in three phases, begins with idea development. It then moves to planning and model building, and finally, launch and expansion. Participants can develop projects and prototypes within SANDBOX, DIEZ's tech accelerator, and scale operations via Scality and Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Campus (Dtec).
The first edition has attracted innovative proposals across technology, mobility, healthcare, and design sectors. Ideas are evaluated based on economic feasibility, scalability, strategic relevance, and social impact. The programme supports the national campaign 'The Emirates: The Startup Capital of the World' led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The 'Employee to Entrepreneur Programme' fosters an entrepreneurial culture in Dubai and contributes to the UAE's knowledge-based economy. Aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, the initiative targets Dubai to be among the world's top three urban economies and aims to establish 30 unicorn companies by 2030.
