East Regional Administrative Division Gets a New ADG: Engineer Md Mahbubur Rahman

East Region welcomes Engineer Md Mahbubur Rahman as its newly appointed Additional Director General (ADG) under the BWDB.

Born in 1967 in Kurigram district, Engineer Md Mahbubur Rahman embarked on his professional journey in 1991, earning his BSc in Civil Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET). In 1993, he joined the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) as an Assistant Engineer (Civil), marking the start of a three-decade-long career in water resource management in Bangladesh.

Throughout his tenure with BWDB, Engineer Rahman has held various key positions, including Sub-Divisional Engineer, Executive Engineer, Superintending Engineer, Additional Chief Engineer, and Chief Engineer. His most recent role was as Chief Engineer (Civil) in the Northern Region of BWDB, Rangpur, before his appointment as the Additional Director General (East Region) on August 3, 2025.

Prior to his current role, Engineer Rahman attended professional seminars and training programs in Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Italy. He applied the knowledge acquired from these programs to his work in water development projects and administration, contributing to his successful progression within the organisation.

Engineer Rahman's career with BWDB has been marked by significant leadership roles, including his tenure as Chief Engineer (Northern Zone) at BWDB in Rangpur. His work in regional water development projects, coupled with his extensive experience and responsibility in overseeing water resource planning, infrastructure, and management, reflect his commitment to the field.

As a life member of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), Engineer Rahman continues to contribute to the engineering community, furthering his knowledge and skills to serve the people of Bangladesh more effectively. His family, a respected Muslim family in Kurigram district, has been a source of inspiration and support throughout his career.
