The Statistical Office in Erfurt dishes this telling detail: 159 seniors aged 60 and older were recorded as guest lecturers, making up a whopping 65% of the total guest lecturers. In the winter semester of 2023/24, this proportion was an impressive 61.2%, with 150 older participants. The craggiest attendee hit 90!

In total, the statisticians nabbed 245 guest lecturers attending Thuringian universities in the winter semester - the same as the previous year.
Most of these wise souls expanded their knowledge at the Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena, followed closely by the University and the University of Applied Sciences in Erfurt. History stole the show as the most popular subject, with philosophy and psychology running a close second in the fields of study.
