Experiencing Physical Sensations for Emotional Regulation: A Method for Efficient Emotional Control via Body Sensitivity

On September 8th at 5 PM, psychological psychotherapist Karolina Friese will be delivering a 60-minute lecture titled "Feel It to Heal It: Body Awareness for Effective Emotion Regulation" at the library in the Town Hall Passage. The event, open to anyone, regardless of prior knowledge, aims to provide insights into the interconnection of body perception, mindfulness, and feelings.

In this lecture, Karolina Friese will discuss the importance of increasing body awareness—the mindful noticing of bodily sensations and signals—for effective emotion regulation. She will emphasise that feeling and acknowledging bodily experiences is crucial for healing emotional distress rather than suppressing or ignoring it.

The lecture will include solid theory, mindfulness-based techniques, and practical body exercises. Some practical methods for effective stress reduction that may be covered include mindfulness meditation focusing on bodily sensations, breath awareness exercises, gentle body scans, progressive muscle relaxation, and cultivating nonjudgmental acceptance of emotional and physical experiences. These methods help individuals develop greater awareness and acceptance of their internal states, facilitating healthier emotion regulation and stress reduction.

After the lecture, a Q&A session will be held to address any questions or inquiries. For those interested, registration for the event is required and can be done on the website. For any additional questions or inquiries, the contact form on the event's Instagram handle (@stabigram) is available.
