Golden State Killer Finally Brought to Justice

In a major breakthrough, Joseph James DeAngelo was arrested in 2018 for being the notorious Golden State Killer. This serial killer terrorized California for decades, committing numerous rapes and murders between the 1970s and 1980s. The case was cracked by former cold-case investigator Paul Holes, who has since become a true-crime celebrity.

Paul Holes, born and raised in the United States, dedicated his career to solving cold cases. He worked tirelessly on the Golden State Killer case, receiving significant help from true-crime author Michelle McNamara. In 2018, just weeks before his retirement, Holes came close to identifying DeAngelo. He even considered approaching DeAngelo to request a DNA sample. However, it was eventually a DNA match from a genealogy website that led to DeAngelo's arrest.

DeAngelo pleaded guilty to 26 charges in August 2020, confessing to a raping and killing spree that had haunted California for 40 years. He was sentenced to a combined total of 12 life sentences, ensuring he would spend the rest of his life behind bars. Since his retirement, Holes has given speeches and hosts a popular podcast, sharing his experiences and insights into the hunt for the Golden State Killer.

The arrest and conviction of Joseph James DeAngelo has brought closure to the families of the Golden State Killer's victims. Paul Holes' relentless pursuit of justice has not only solved one of the United States' most infamous cold cases but has also inspired a new generation of investigators.
