After the summer break, teachers across all 111 government schools will be expected to adhere to a dress code, making this the first instance of such a policy in the country. The announcement was made at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 14, Dhanas, in the presence of the administrator.

The official dress code release states that female teachers will wear either sarees or salwar kameez, while male teachers will opt for formal shirts and trousers. The education department will assure the implementation of this policy, beginning from the upcoming session following the summer holidays, providing ample time for a smooth transition to the mandatory dress code.

This measure, according to the education department, will grant teachers a more professional image and set a positive example for students. UT administrator, Gulab Chand Kataria, praised the initiative, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a dignified and consistent appearance among teaching staff. "A unified dress code not only promotes equality among staff, but it also instills a sense of pride and professionalism," Kataria explained.

UT director school education, Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar, reflected that the uniform will foster identity and integrity among teachers. He went on to specify the color code of uniforms for teachers and indicated that they had been given a sufficient time period before summer vacations to assemble their uniforms.

This proposal to institute uniforms stemmed from Kataria's remarks during a January event organized by the education department to distribute appointment letters to newly recruited nursery teachers. These uniforms symbolize unity, discipline, and the significant role teachers play in shaping society.
