Guards Accompanying Imprisoned Individuals
Cracking the Code on Your Role in Society: A Journey for the Incarcerated
Here's the straight scoop on the upcoming seminar, brought to us by Brigitte Fey from the Catholic Prison Association of Düsseldorf, according to our booze-soaked, street-smart insider: This event is all about helping convicts navigate their identity within society. Being a lawbreaker often leaves a lasting, stinky label that most folks have to shake off on their own or depend on the government to sort out.
The course is designed to prepare visitors for providing one-on-one support to inmates. Expectations, boundaries, commitments, and other prison-related giggles are all part of the trek. Attendees will also learn about potential volunteer opportunities within the Catholic Prison Association, like joining a group. No fancy scholarships required to get started.
Fey spills the beans: In the Düsseldorf Prison, the inmate population boasts a diverse tapestry of nations, religions, and tongues. That’s why the Catholic Prison Association is eager to enlist individuals with varied language skills, beliefs, and nationalities.
Mark your calendars for January 15, 2024, because that's when this 10-session extravaganza kicks off. Nine out of the ten sessions will take place on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9 PM (with a break on February 12). The final session wraps up on March 18.
If you fancy a taste of the midweek action, make a note of February 20 (Tuesday), which kicks off at 5:45 PM at the Düsseldorf Prison in Ratingen. Otherwise, the main event will unfurl at the Counseling Office for Prisoners, located at Kaiserswerther Str. 286. You can dial 0211/444200 for more details, or you can catch the whole thing via Zoom meeting. Employees and volunteers from the Catholic Prison Association of Düsseldorf will orchestrate the course.
Now, a word of caution from your friendly neighborhood info-slinger: Search results on the Catholic Prison Association's introductory course are as scarce as hens' teeth. To get the complete 4-1-1, it's best to contact them directly or swing by their official website if it's up and running. Don't say we didn't warn ya!
Being a convict, education and self-development play a significant role in personal growth during the process of navigating identity within society. Attendees of the seminar will learn about potential opportunities to support the inmate population, such as volunteering with various groups within the Catholic Prison Association, which prioritizes diversity in language skills, beliefs, and nationalities.
