Hockinson School District Adopts Otus Platform for Enhanced Learning and Communication

Hockinson School District (HSD) has chosen the Otus platform to enhance student learning and communication starting in the 2025-26 school year. This move comes as the district focuses on student programs and academic achievement due to Washington State's funding shortfall.

The Otus platform will integrate academic data from various sources, including Mystery Science by Discovery Education, providing teachers with a comprehensive view of student progress. This integration aims to improve communication between families and schools by offering clear updates and progress reports.

Otus will replace several tools in HSD, centralizing assessment, grading, data analytics, and progress monitoring. This change is expected to save the district money and streamline processes. Educators will also benefit from professional development provided by Otus' team of experts.

Steve Marshall, Superintendent of HSD, believes Otus will enhance educators' ability to support students effectively and improve student outcomes in a cost-effective manner. Jessica Lasher, Senior Educational Partnerships Manager at Discovery Education, echoed this sentiment, stating that the collaboration with Otus will best serve students and educators in HSD.

Starting in the 2025-26 school year, HSD will use the Otus platform to track student learning and growth, improve communication, and support educators.
