Instructional water activities for young refugee individuals
The Wiesbaden Swimming Club 1911 e.V. has taken a significant step towards refugee integration by launching a new initiative aimed at providing a sporting home and essential life skills to a group of Ukrainian elite swimmers who have recently sought refuge in the city.
The project, which is funded by the Wiesbaden Economic Forum e.V., is a testament to the club's commitment to societal impact and the Forum's conviction in education, integration, and equal opportunities.
Christoph Eichler, President of Wiesbaden Swimming Club 1911 e.V., expressed his delight at the initiative, stating that it is a priority for the club to contribute to the community in such a meaningful way.
The first swimming courses for refugee children aged between 5 and 15 will commence on Monday, August 25, at the ESWE leisure pool, with a further round starting from Saturday, August 30, at the Kleinfeldchen. Qualified trainers from the Wiesbaden Swimming Club will conduct these sessions.
The project is expected to provide essential life skills, self-confidence, participation, and joy for the children. Learning to swim is not only seen as a means for safety but also for participation.
The initiative demonstrates the effective, unbureaucratic, and collaborative work between actors from civil society, administration, and sports clubs in Wiesbaden. The municipal social and administrative services will ensure the target group is reached.
Dr. Becher, who appreciates the exceptional commitment of all those involved in the project, encourages citizens with questions regarding the project to contact the relevant department or office.
The Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden has issued this press release, located at Schlossplatz 6, 65183 Wiesbaden. The Wiesbaden Economic Forum e.V. has funded the project for ten children, and the symbolic handover was conducted by both organisations.
While online sources may not yet cover this project extensively, those interested in firsthand details on refugee swimming initiatives, funding sources, partners involved, and their impact assessments are advised to contact Wiesbaden municipal authorities, local refugee support organisations, or swimming clubs in Wiesbaden directly.
