Instructions for Building the New Public Secondary School in the State
In the heart of the city, the construction of a new State Realschule is well underway. The official part of the festival ended with a topping-out ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the project.
Architect Sebastian Kittelberger from "Dasch Zürn + Partner" is leading the construction of the school. The wing-shaped building will feature a three-field sports hall with a staggered fir wood ceiling construction, generously dimensioned corridors, bright classrooms, and balconies offering a beautiful view of the floodplain, Martinskirche, and Burg Trausnitz.
The topping-out ceremony was officially opened by Mayor Putz at around 3 pm. Following the ceremony, a convivial gathering was held. Senior Realschool Director Manfred Brodschelm and Ministerial Director Adolf Schicker both delivered greetings.
The school's interior boasts two large light wells, exposed concrete, expanded metal, and a facade dominated by glass and stained fir. The large staircase and seating area in the break hall, doors, wall cladding, and cabinets will be made of wood.
Open learning landscapes are planned on the wide corridors, in addition to regular and specialized classrooms. The school will also contain additional learning spaces such as group rooms, inclusion spaces, and an all-day area with a cafeteria and kitchen.
Manfred Brodschelm is the Ministerial Commissioner for Realschulen in Lower Bavaria, while Adolf Schicker heads department IV (Realschulen, basic questions) in the Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Culture.
The school's facade is characterized by continuous balconies, adding to its unique and modern design. With the topping-out ceremony complete, the construction team is now working towards the final stages of this exciting project.
