MWC25 Kigali: Shaping Africa's Digital Future
Prepare for an exciting event as the Mobile World Congress (MWC) makes its way to Kigali, Rwanda in October 2025. MWC25 Kigali, the largest and most influential connectivity event in Africa, is set to be a pivotal moment in the continent's digital transformation.
Modeled after the flagship programme from MWC Barcelona, MWC25 Kigali will bring together regional and global leaders to discuss, collaborate, and shape the future of digital transformation in Africa. The event is hosted by the GSMA in partnership with the Ministry of ICT & Innovation of Rwanda.
The four-day event, taking place from October 21-23, 2025, will feature a thought leadership programme focused on themes shaping the industry and Africa's digital future. These themes include Connected Continent, The AI Future, Fintech, and Africa's Digital Frontier.
Keynote speakers for MWC Kigali 2025 include industry heavyweights such as Sunil Taldar (Airtel's CEO), Hassan Jaber (AXIAN Telecom's CEO), Frehiwot Tamiru (Ethiotel's CEO), Ralph Mupita (MTN's CEO), Yasser Shaker (Orange's EVP & CEO, Middle East and Africa), and Hon. Mrs. Paula Ingabire (Rwanda's Minister of ICT and Innovation).
To delve deeper into specific sectors, MWC25 Kigali will host three summits: FinTech, 5G, and the debut Security Summit. The FinTech Summit will focus on digital financial services, including mobile money, innovations in payment systems, and financial inclusion tailored to Africa’s unique market dynamics.
The 5G Summit will discuss next-generation connectivity and how it can enable Africa’s digital transformation, including deployment challenges, new use cases, and how 5G will support sectors like smart cities, industry, and digital ecosystems.
The Security Summit, a first for MWC Kigali, will focus on cybersecurity challenges and strategies relevant to Africa’s expanding digital infrastructure and new technologies being adopted. It will address risks and policy frameworks to ensure a secure digital future for the continent.
In addition to these summits, the Mobile for Development theatre will provide a platform for panels and discussions on topics like AI, mobile money, humanitarian innovation, agriculture, climate, and digital inclusion.
