Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) and Uppsala University are set to host an exciting event - the European-South Asian Investment Arbitration Bootcamp - from August 18–22, 2025. This unique initiative will blend online and on-site participation, offering a hybrid experience for all participants.
The theme of this year's bootcamp is 'Investment Arbitration Meets Economic Security', aiming to foster a dynamic exchange of legal expertise, strategic insights, and regional best practices between Europe and South Asia. The bootcamp is designed to provide participants with a comparative understanding of investment regimes and economic security frameworks, enabling them to critically analyze diverse approaches to investment arbitration and grasp the legal–economic nexus that shapes global and regional stability.
Confirmed speakers for the bootcamp include some of the most respected figures in the field. Justice A.K. Sikri, an International Judge at the Singapore International Commercial Court (SICC) and a Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, will be sharing his insights. Joining him is Justice L. Nageswara Rao, another Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India.
The event will also feature Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University, Member of the International Law Commission, and the National Security Advisory Board. Prof. (Dr.) Steffen Hindelang, Professor of International Investment and Trade Law at Uppsala University, Sweden, and Executive Director of the CELIS Institute, will also be a key speaker.
Other confirmed speakers include Prof. Giorgio Fabio Colombo, a Full Professor of Comparative Law at Ca' Foscar University Venice (Italy); Shravan Yammanur, a Partner in Dentons Link Legal's Dispute Resolution practice in Delhi; Lucas Bastin KC, a Barrister at Essex Court Chambers in London; Patricia Nacimiento, who leads the German dispute resolution team and the EMEA international arbitration team at Herbert Smith Freehills; Lorena Fatás Pérez, a Senior Associate at Garrigues; Argha Kumar Jena, a Partner at Jena & Co.; and Kilian Wagner, a Policy Advisor in the Federal Chancellery of the Republic of Austria.
