Cebu's New City Hall Taps Top Young Talent

Nyza Archival, councilor-elect and daughter of Cebu City's soon-to-be mayor, Nestor Archival, has announced that resumes from young professionals responding to the mayor-elect's hiring call are now under review.

In a candid chat, Nyza shared that all applications have been compiled and are currently being assessed. She stresses the importance of matching qualified individuals with roles that capitalize on their skills.

Critical of past practices in government, the younger Archival called out the long-standing tendency to hire individuals ill-fitted for their positions. Her father, Nestor, previously took to Facebook, inviting fresh graduates and young professionals, particularly those with Latin honors, to join his administration and help "revamp" City Hall.

Positions in the Archival administration, Nyza confirmed, will be contractual initially. The final number of new hires will depend on the discussions with the City Treasurer's Office regarding available funds.

The Archival administration aspires to promote inclusivity, encourage fresh ideas, and champion a proactive approach to governance. "We're after fresh, innovative minds to breathe life into the council and our administration," Nyza emphasized, reflecting her father's vision of "revamping" City Hall.

The recruitment drive aims to create a streamlined and efficient administration by positioning the right individuals in the right roles. Nestor Archival Sr. seeks to tackle existing issues within Cebu City's City Hall by leveraging the abilities of capable youth. The ultimate goal is to instill transparency, shield citizens from financial hurdles like delayed salaries[4][5], and introduce innovative initiatives such as the "Mayor of the Night" program[2]. This initiative aims to improve public service accessibility, particularly for citizens working during the day, symbolizing the administration's broader endeavor to enhance the quality of life for Cebu City residents by providing 24/7 City Hall services.

  1. Nyza Archival, a councilor-elect in Cebu's upcoming administration, plans to hire young professionals with relevant skills, aiming to achieve education-and-self-development and politics reforms in Cebu City.
  2. The Archival administration, which aspires to promote inclusivity and encourage fresh ideas, is recruiting young talent to help revamp Cebu City's City Hall, ultimately improving general news for the citizens by resolving existing issues and implementing innovative initiatives.
