Kamala Harris Set to Become First Black Indian American Woman Presidential Nominee

Kamala Harris has emerged as the Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential race following Joe Biden's withdrawal. She is the first Black and Indian American woman to achieve this milestone. Biden stepped down on July 21, 2024, citing concerns about his age and cognitive abilities. Harris, who had been vice president under Biden, announced her candidacy shortly after and ran unopposed. Harris commemorated the one-year anniversary of her campaign against Donald Trump, which lasted 107 days and involved extensive travel across the nation. Harris's campaign raised a record $1 billion in just one quarter, demonstrating her strong support base. She thanked her supporters for standing up for values, ideals, and democracy. Despite her defeat, Harris's bid for the presidency made history and inspired many. Harris is currently promoting her 2024 campaign memoir, '107 Days', and engaging with the public. However, she has explicitly stated she will not run for California governor in 2026 or president in 2028. Historically, nominees who lose an election do not typically go on to win the nomination again and subsequently the presidency.
