Landshut Startup Night 2023: DNA Fold Technologies Wins, 300 Attend
The 14th Landshut Startup Night, held at Landshut University on November 7, attracted a substantial crowd of around 200 attendees and 100 online participants. The event showcased the region's thriving startup ecosystem and highlighted the importance of startup promotion for the local economy.
Prof. Dr. Marcus Jautze, vice-president for digitalization, startups, and continuing education, commended the large turnout and the vibrant startup scene in Landshut. A panel discussion featuring local leaders emphasized the significance of Hochschule Landshut's role in fostering startups for the regional economy.
The event featured the final round and presentations of the Landshut Startup Award. Five innovative teams pitched their business ideas, with DNA Fold Technologies emerging victorious. They received 2000 euros for their nanotechnology-based medical diagnosis simplification concept. Fruity Oats secured third place and 500 euros for their time-saving, healthy breakfast product, set to launch in Rewe's refrigerated section in March 2025. Lesson Organizer won second place and 1000 euros for their online platform supporting teachers.
DNA Fold Technologies aims to develop a test that can detect tiny amounts of pathogen DNA in patient samples, making it faster, cheaper, and more patient-friendly than current products. Prof. Dr. Johannes Jungwirth, founder and technical managing director of VK Energie GmbH Munich, delivered a keynote speech, sharing his experiences and insights with the audience.
The 14th Landshut Startup Night demonstrated Hochschule Landshut's role as a driver of innovation and catalyst for the region. The LINK Gründerzentrum Landshut, located at the university, plays a central role in supporting startup projects from the university into the region. The event highlighted the potential of local startups and their positive impact on the regional economy.
