National Law University Odisha Offers Double Credit Course on Practical Aspects of Litigation, Arbitration, and Ancillary Legal Frameworks

The Alumni Relations Society at National Law University, Odisha (NLUO) is organizing a double credit course titled 'Practical Aspects of Litigation, Arbitration, and Ancillary Legal Frameworks'. The course is designed to provide valuable insights and practical skills to students and professionals.

Course Structure and Schedule

The course is divided into four modules over multiple weekends:

  1. 2–3 August: Module 1 - Civil Litigation, covering foundational knowledge of civil litigation, procedure under the Civil Procedure Code (CPC), jurisdiction, limitation periods, and drafting civil suits.
  2. 9–10 August: Module 2 - Foundation of Arbitration and Institutional Arbitration, focusing on domestic and international arbitration frameworks and drafting arbitration agreements.
  3. 16–17 August: Module 3 - Interim Measures, Procedure, and Termination of Mandate, discussing interim relief, process, and ending arbitration mandates.
  4. 23–24 August: Module 4 - Post-Award Remedies, Challenges, and Enforcement, analyzing enforcement methods, challenges, and post-award remedies in arbitration.

Course Objectives

The course objectives include:

  • Imparting foundational and practical knowledge of civil litigation and arbitration procedures.
  • Developing expertise in drafting critical legal documents such as arbitration agreements.
  • Analyzing intersections of arbitration with commercial laws, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), consumer law, and investment treaties.
  • Equipping participants to apply procedural rules, challenge grounds, and prepare enforcement strategies.
  • Formulating cross-border arbitration clauses under institutional rules.
  • Integrating ancillary legal frameworks into dispute resolution strategies.

Expected Outcomes

The course aims to produce competent professionals in civil litigation and arbitration practices. Students and professionals who complete the course can expect to gain:

Registration and Fees

The course registration fees for NLUO students is INR 700, for students from other universities is INR 1,200, and for working professionals is INR 1,700. The last day to register for the course is 11:59 PM on August 01, 2025.

The assessment test is mandatory for a minimum of 75% attendance and requires a minimum of 50 marks out of 100 to pass and receive the certificate. The course timeline is from 2 August to 12 September 2025.
