Part-Time Work Among Russian Students on the Rise

Part-time work among students in Russia is becoming increasingly common, with a significant number of teenagers aged 16 and above seeking employment opportunities in sectors such as retail, transport, logistics, IT, marketing, catering, and sales.

According to a study by the "Avito Subwork" service, 76% of Russian students plan to work part-time during the new academic year. Among these students, 43% across all courses intend to work part-time, with freshmen of 2025 showing the highest intent, with 64% planning to start working from the first year. A quarter of students prefer to start working part-time in their second year, and another 19% in their third year.

The most popular areas for part-time work among students are creative professions (16%), delivery and logistics (15%), and the IT sphere (15%). These jobs often offer on-the-job training and are suitable for students, with flexible hours being a key consideration.

When choosing part-time work, students prioritize flexible hours (59%), quick payments and transparent conditions (45%), and the possibility of remote work (33%). Financial necessity also plays a role, with about 47% of Russians overall expressing the need for part-time or additional jobs to supplement their budget.

Students planning to work part-time expect to spend about 5 hours a day on average, with 38% preferring to work 3-4 hours daily, and 31% - 4-6 hours. Of the students planning to work part-time, 46% already have such experience, and 30% are starting out.

Experts at "Avito Subwork" advise students to carefully check employers and prefer official employment formats to protect their rights. The expected average monthly salary for part-time work is 38,930 rubles.
