Memorial ceremony for Charles Vest scheduled for March 6th
Remembering Charles M. Vest: Memorial Events and Tributes at MIT
Charles M. Vest, the transformative leader who served as the 15th president of MIT from 1990 to 2004, will be honoured with a series of memorial events on Thursday, March 6, at the Ray and Maria Stata Center.
The day's events will commence with a memorial service at 4:30 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium, followed by a reception in the newly renamed Charles M. Vest Student Street within the Stata Center. A portrait unveiling of Vest will take place at 6 p.m., and shuttle service will be provided from Kresge to the Stata Center for both events.
The services are open to the MIT community and friends of the Institute, and an electronic guest book is available for people to share memories and condolences with the Vest family.
Vest's legacy at MIT is marked by his visionary leadership, which significantly advanced the institute’s academic stature, global engagement, and innovation culture. His contributions include fostering interdisciplinary research, expanding MIT’s role in the global scientific and technological community, and promoting the integration of educational technology.

Vest Presidential Fellowship Fund at MIT or to the Charles M. Vest President's Opportunity Fund at the National Academy of Engineering.
