Over 1,000 Students Showcase Skills at Kentucky's SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference

Over 1,000 students from Kentucky are gathering in Louisville for the SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference. The event, held from April 11 to 13, showcases students' skills in high-demand jobs and offers real-world experiences.

The conference features 98 competitions across various career areas. These include manufacturing, transportation, and hospitality. Each contest is organised with the help of industry experts and aligns with professional industry standards. Local businesses and trade associations collaborate with SkillsUSA Kentucky to provide competition materials and networking opportunities.

Chloe Blackwell, a junior in the Health Science program, is participating for the second consecutive year. She finds the competitions helpful for real-world preparation. Angela Burger, a senior in the welding program, is attending for the first time, appreciating the chance to step out of her comfort zone and network with industry professionals.

SkillsUSA Kentucky serves over 3,500 students and instructors annually. The conference aligns with the Kentucky Department of Education's United We Learn vision, creating vibrant learning experiences and encouraging innovation. Winners of the state conference will advance to the national SkillsUSA Championships in June, further showcasing Kentucky's talented youth.
