Overcoming boundaries: Cakap's newest report showcases the educational influence in Indonesia

Indonesian edtech company Cakap has recently released its annual impact report, titled "Breaking Barriers to Borderless Education." The report highlights the company's efforts to provide access to educational resources for students from underserved areas such as Nusa Tenggara Timur, Papua, and Sumatera Utara, with over 15,000 students already benefiting from these initiatives.

The report outlines Cakap's collaboration with the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Indonesia and the research institute Advisia. The company's priority for 2024 is to solidify its impact by transforming the Cakap Untuk Bangsa (CUB) initiative into a foundational program.

Tomy Yunus, co-founder and CEO of Cakap, stated that the report demonstrates their commitment to enhancing inclusive educational access. He emphasized that Cakap's journey is driven by a single commitment to improve lives through education.

In addition to its focus on quality education, Cakap also caters to diverse educational needs and promotes an inclusive learning environment. The company offers a corporate program for employee competency development, working with clients like Grab, Protelindo, and Siloam Hospitals.

The launch event for the report featured notable figures such as Gita Wirjawan, Shinta Kamdani, Dennis Pratistha, Rahayu Saraswati, and Arya Setiadharma. Shinta Kamdani emphasized the importance of applying holistic sustainability principles in business, while Dennis Pratistha discussed the investment landscape for education startups in Indonesia.

According to Dennis, Indonesia currently ranks second highest in the number of students studying abroad within ASEAN. Gita Wirjawan emphasized the importance of education in national development, stating that Indonesia needs numerous skill development platforms for its human resources.

Cakap's initiatives have extended to East Timor, where the company has provided access to education for students as early as four years old through the Cakap Kids Academy and the English assessment test (CEST). The report launch also coincided with Cakap's fifth anniversary since its rebranding from Squline in 2019.

The report does not specify the best investors or clients with whom Cakap cooperated for its corporate programs in 2023, as there are no available public records or search results regarding this matter. However, the company's impact and reach continue to grow, with Cakap now serving over 4.5 million students and nearly 2,300 teachers across 38 provinces in Indonesia.

The CUB initiative aims to further expand Cakap's reach and impact, focusing on inculcating lifelong learning and offering equitable quality education to vulnerable and marginalized communities. With its commitment to sustainable development principles aligned with several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Cakap continues to break barriers to borderless education, making a significant impact in the lives of countless students across Indonesia.
