Park University's Homecoming and Family Weekend are planned for September 19th to 21st.

Alumni, relatives, and friends from varying locations are set to gather on Park University's Parkville Campus for Homecoming and Family Weekend during 2019.

Park University's Homecoming and Family Weekend 2019: A Celebration of Achievements and Community

Get ready for a weekend filled with excitement and camaraderie as Park University hosts its Homecoming and Family Weekend from September 19 to 21. The events will kick off on International Talk Like a Pirate Day, adding an extra dash of fun to the festivities.

The main event, the men's soccer match, is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. on September 21. At halftime, the Homecoming Royalty will be crowned, making it a moment to remember. Throughout the weekend, food and toiletries will be collected for Park University's Pirate Pantry.

On September 19, the Park University Alumni Association Awards Program will take place at The Park Place, Parkville, Mo. Tickets for this event cost $10 per person. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at alumnioffice@our website or (816) 584-6209.

Among the awardees are Wendy Romero, class of 2017, who will be inducted into the Athletics Wall of Honor for her achievements as a women's volleyball player. Lillian Madeje, class of 2010, will receive the Marlowe Sherwood Memorial Service Award. Robert Dandridge, class of 2004, and Brenda Dandridge, class of 2007, will receive the Torchlighter Award. Marcus Gladdis, MBA class of 2011 and MHA class of 2018, will receive the Park Promising Young Professional Award.

Pat Fayard, current assistant to the athletic director, will be honoured for meritorious service at the Athletics Wall of Honor Induction Breakfast. Fayard has been a Park employee since 1985 and has served in her current role since 2000.

Jon Meriweather, class of 2011 and MBA class of 2014, will be inducted into the Athletics Wall of Honor for his achievements as a men's basketball player. Ben Popoola, former men's soccer and women's soccer coach, as well as former director of athletics, will be inducted into the Athletics Wall of Honor for his significant contributions to Park University athletics. Carolyn McHenry Elwess, class of 1971, will receive the Distinguished Alumna Award.

Several other events are planned for the weekend, including the Park University Emeriti/Retired Faculty and Friends Tea at the Park Distance Learning Center Conference Center on September 20 at 10:30 a.m. A Park House Celebration will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 1:30 p.m., at the new location adjacent to Hawley Hall. The Family Fun Day Event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the 6th Street entrance.

Many events during the weekend are open to the public. Women's soccer and men's soccer matches vs. Freed-Hardeman University will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Julian Field. Admission is free. The women's soccer match will also feature the presentation of the Athletics Wall of Honor Class of 2019 at halftime.

For those interested in music, an International Center for Music Concert, titled "Stanislav and Friends: An Intimate Evening," will take place at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, Kansas City, Mo., on September 20. Tickets are $75 (plus applicable fees) and can be purchased at tickets.kauffmancenter.org/stanislav.
