Parking Upgrades Coming to University for Autumn 2025
As the fall semester approaches, Oberlin College is set to unveil multiple new parking lots and facilities to improve safety, convenience, and sustainability for students, faculty, and visitors.
The most significant change can be found on Lorain Street, north of Wilder Hall, where a new crosswalk will ensure safe pedestrian travel. Accompanying this, a new parking lot will replace the temporary lot used by construction vehicles, offering 20 new parking spaces for faculty and staff, and an additional 20 spaces for residents of adjacent student houses. The new Lorain Street lot will also feature designated spaces for short-term parking, Wilder Hall loading and unloading, and spaces specifically for those living in nearby student houses.
In addition to the Lorain Street lot, two more parking facilities are under construction. The Woodland Street lot, situated near the new Woodland Hall student residence, will provide a new 226-space parking lot for students. This lot will also house two Level II EV charging stations for use by students, faculty, and staff. For students residing off-campus, a new 70-space parking lot is available on North Professor Street, adjacent to the softball field.
These new parking lots are part of Oberlin's Sustainable Infrastructure Program, which contributes to the campus's carbon neutrality. The construction projects have been carefully planned to minimise environmental impact and promote a greener campus.
While detailed information on locations, capacities, and EV charging specifics for the fall 2022 campus parking options is not fully outlined, recent updates from similar university campuses show that campus parking typically involves a combination of core student resident lots, surface lots, and parking garages. These lots are often used for temporarily reserved unloading zones during student arrival periods. Across campuses, total parking spaces can range widely, with some universities offering thousands of parking spaces.
For those interested in EV charging locations or updated capacities at a specific university's campus for fall 2022, it is recommended to consult that campus's transportation services directly. For more information about parking at Oberlin College, please visit the campus.safety@our website.
With these new parking lots and facilities, Oberlin College is committed to providing a safer, more convenient, and sustainable campus environment for all members of its community.
In line with Oberlin College's commitment to education-and-self-development, these new parking lots aim to facilitate the academic and residential needs of students, faculty, and staff. The campus also takes steps to promote sustainability by incorporating EV charging stations and adhering to a Sustainable Infrastructure Program, fostering a greener learning environment.
