Re-launch of the 2024 ReMatch++ Initiative

The ReMatch program at Princeton University is a summer research initiative that offers undergraduate students a unique opportunity to build critical research skills and subject expertise. This program, designed to increase participation of underrepresented students in research fields, aims to develop research skills, boost confidence in academic settings, and prepare students for graduate study or research careers.

Under the guidance of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, participants work on a wide range of research projects across various disciplines. For instance, Keith Matanachai, a ReMatch participant, conducted a research project on upcycling plastic waste using zeolite catalysts, improving a method of catalytic hydrocracking in the process.

Another participant, Micah Petit-Bois, led a research project on the role of music in guiding attention in multimedia. Zhiwen Wu synthesized new biphasic transition metal chalcogenides for energy storage, aiming to make more sustainable batteries. Jewel Merriman studied the role of the cerebellum in cognitive aging and brain reserve.

The ReMatch program provides personalized mentorship to undergraduate students, offering them a hands-on experience to explore different research fields and methodologies. Interested students can join the interest list to learn more about ReMatch.

In addition to the summer research opportunity, the ReMatch program offers academic and professional development events in the fall. These events include seminars, workshops, and networking opportunities. Potential mentors and their research endeavors can be met at the Meals for Mentoring events on November 14th and November 15th.

While the specific details for the ReMatch summer research program for 2025 are not currently available, the program typically offers fellowship funding for joint summer research projects and mentorship between undergraduates and graduate students/postdoctoral fellows. Sign-ups for interested students and fall events are currently open.

For accurate, up-to-date information on program objectives, mentorship specifics, and fall events sign-up, we recommend consulting the official Princeton University Office of Undergraduate Research website or directly contacting the program coordinators at Princeton. We're here to help if you need assistance in finding the contact details or framing a direct inquiry to the program office.

To further develop their research skills and boost their confidence in academic settings, undergraduates can participate in the ReMatch program's education-and-self-development events in the fall. This opportunity, which includes seminars, workshops, and networking events, is part of the lifelong-learning process for these students, especially in the field of online-education.
