Relocation of Bremer Primary School in Gröpelingen: Temporary Shelter in Mobile Buildings - Training Procedures to Proceed as Arranged
The much-anticipated reopening of Grundschule Gröpelingen on Schiffbauerweg has been delayed due to unforeseen construction problems. The school, which was originally set to open in the coming weeks, is currently undergoing a reassessment of its structural integrity following the discovery of issues during renovation.
The Lower Building Authority issued a construction stop on June 26th to ensure the safety of the building. The construction work has since resumed, and the school administration is working diligently to complete the necessary repairs and upgrades. However, the exact reopening date remains uncertain as it depends on the finalization of the renovation work and safety approvals.
In the interim, a temporary solution has been put in place. The future first-graders will be accommodated in an empty mobile building located on Ritterhuder Heerstraße. The education department is currently preparing this building for the students, and the preparation is expected to be completed by the first week of August.
To facilitate the transition, school furniture that has already been ordered will be redirected to the new location. Additionally, approximately 50 future students will be provided with a bus transfer to the interim location. Parents of the future students have been informed about this short-term change.
The enrollment ceremony can still take place as planned on August 10th, marking the official start of the school year, albeit in a temporary location.
It is worth noting that the new school on Schiffbauerweg was originally an office building opposite the Waterfront shopping center. The Bremen Environmental Service will prepare the outdoor facilities at the mobile building during the summer holidays to ensure a comfortable and conducive learning environment for the students.
The school is estimated to move into its permanent location during the autumn holidays in 2024. For the most precise and updated reopening date, contacting the Bremen education authority or the school's administration directly would provide the latest information.
