Saarbrücken's Ost Primary School Opens Extended Full-Day Care
The extension of the voluntary full-day primary school Ost in Saarbrücken has been completed and will welcome students from Monday, April 28. The project, which began in autumn 2021, finished on schedule with a total cost of around 12.5 million euros. The new building offers approximately 2,400 square meters of additional space, providing comprehensive infrastructure for full-day care.
The new five-floor building includes a modern kitchen and a large dining hall in the basement, capable of serving 200 students at a time. An outdoor terrace and a newly designed outdoor area also feature in this level. The first two floors house after-school rooms, including a movement room and a tea kitchen, supporting relaxed afternoon care. All floors are equipped with modern sanitary facilities, and a wide ramp and elevator ensure barrier-free access.
The third floor is dedicated to cultural education, boasting a theater hall and an art room for creative expression and performances. The ground floor accommodates administrative rooms, offices for the social-pedagogical area, and a library for reading and learning promotion.
Mayor Uwe Conradt expressed joy at the completion of the extension, emphasizing the benefits it brings to students, teachers, and the community. The extension provides around 2,400 square meters of additional space, enhancing the school's full-day care capabilities.
