Seventeen bags narrate tales within the Resurrection Church Arnsberg, art display commencing on August 15.
In the heart of Arnsberg, the Auferstehungskirche will transform into a vibrant canvas for storytelling artworks during the Cultural Summer 2025. From August 15th to August 24th, 17 artworks made from everyday items, including bags, will hang from the ceiling, telling tales of life.
This unique pocket exhibition is the brainchild of local artist Katharina Reinartz-Nebe, who was inspired to reopen the church space for art and transform it into a space for exchange and communication. Ten Arnsberg artists, including Norbert Baumeister, Christel and Siegfried Deventer, Hans Michael Fraikin, Inge Maag-Cordes, Arno Mester, Ulrike Naroska-Krause, Katharina Reinartz-Nebe, Hartmut Richard Schröder, and Heike Wiegand-Baumeister, have contributed to this exhibition by sharing their bag dreams and associations.
The bags in the exhibition represent various themes such as bygone professions, amorous encounters, discussions about death, life-saving heroes, and emergency kits. Visitors have the opportunity to discuss the artwork with the artists during the exhibition, making it an immersive and interactive experience.
The church space will be open from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, except for Monday, August 18th.
