Seventy-Three Individuals Successfully Complete Higher Vocational Education
The plenary hall of the Bergische Industry and Commerce resonated with applause as 73 graduates were honoured for their achievements in higher vocational training. The ceremony, which took place on Friday afternoon, recognised the outstanding accomplishments of these professionals in various fields, from technical business administration to electrical and safety engineering.
Axel Blankennagel, Vice-President of the Bergische IHK, welcomed the guests, expressing gratitude to the over 1,500 volunteer examiners and the companies that support the program. In his speech, Blankennagel emphasised the importance of ongoing education in the current technological landscape, underscoring the need for continuous learning in times of digitalisation, AI, and skilled labour shortages.
Seventeen graduates were certified industrial masters in metalworking, while six were in the electrical engineering specialisation. Thirteen graduates were certified specialists in passenger transport and mobility, and one graduate each was certified in confectionery technology, chemistry, and personnel specialisation. Fifteen graduates received certificates in personnel specialisation.
The event highlighted the crucial role these qualified professionals play in the region's innovation and competitiveness. The IHK, a central player in vocational education and training in Germany, is responsible for accrediting vocational programs, conducting exams for certifications, supporting local businesses by ensuring a well-trained workforce, and promoting regional innovation and competitiveness.
Blankennagel praised the graduates for their dedication in furthering their qualifications alongside their careers and daily lives, stating that the degree is a testament to their commitment, future orientation, and willingness to take responsibility. The ceremony concluded with the formal presentation of certificates by IHK Vice-President Axel Blankennagel and IHK Managing Director Carmen Bartl-Zorn.
In total, 18 of the graduates were female, and 55 were male, reflecting ongoing efforts to increase female participation in technical professions.
