SmarterHelp, an organization specializing in workforce development for electric vehicle charging, formally separates from ChargerHelp.
SmarterHelp Launches to Expand Access to Green Economy Careers
SmarterHelp, a new workforce development company spun out from ChargerHelp, is focusing on advancing equitable access to green economy careers by scaling training for in-demand technical roles in the clean energy sector.
The company's initial flagship program is the EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) Reliability Technician Training program, designed to prepare technicians for maintaining electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Beyond this foundational training, SmarterHelp plans to expand its training portfolio to include career pathways in smart grid systems, micro-mobility, sustainable infrastructure maintenance, and K-12 and CTE pathways.
SmarterHelp's mission is not only to train workers but also to help build a just transition for the clean economy. The company emphasizes an equity-centered, certification-based curriculum aimed especially at underserved communities, addressing the national shortage in green-skilled workers amidst an anticipated creation of over 6 million clean energy jobs in the US by 2035.
Currently, only 12% of global workers possess any green skills, and SmarterHelp aims to address this issue through its training programs. According to Kianna Scott, the CEO of SmarterHelp, the company believes that technology alone isn't enough, and people prepared to maintain and lead the systems of the future are necessary.
To this end, SmarterHelp's training approach blends technical instruction with adult learning best practices, strong industry ties, and a deep commitment to access. The company will host a public webinar on September 15, 2025, for superintendents, workforce leaders, and CTE program managers.
SmarterHelp was co-founded by Kameale Terry, the CEO of ChargerHelp, and its leadership also includes CEO Kianna Scott and COO Dr. Jessica Hutcheson. The company's mission is to help communities across the country access the green jobs of tomorrow. SmarterHelp's training programs are already being used by school systems, workforce boards, and training providers.
In addition to the EVSE Reliability Technician Training program, SmarterHelp's training programs are designed to equip learners for high-growth technical careers in various sectors, including the clean economy. The company's training programs are targeted at learners, particularly from underserved communities, to address the gap in green skills.
