Spotlight on EIOH Resident - Dr. Livia Barros' Professional Journey
In the world of dentistry, Dr. Livia Barros is making a name for herself with her impressive accomplishments and dedication to the field. In June 2023, she presented two papers at the Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Cranial Research - Eastman Institute for Oral Health in Rochester. One focused on a case report of Dens Invaginatus Type IIIa, while the other reviewed Photobiomodulation for Oral Mucositis with a Dose Analysis. Previously, she also presented at the April 2024 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Endodontists in Los Angeles and the May 2023 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Endodontists in Chicago.
At Eastman, Dr. Barros has gained valuable hands-on experience, learned from expert faculty, and had opportunities to collaborate with colleagues. This nurturing environment has helped her develop strong communication skills, time management skills, resilience, and made lifelong relationships.
Dr. Barros' research focus areas are centered around interdisciplinary research, with a passion for wound care and health equity for marginalized populations, including Northern and rural communities. While specific details about her contributions during her time at Eastman Institute of Oral Health (EIOH) were not found, it is clear that her work has made a significant impact.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Barros draws inspiration from her family. She comes from a large family with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her grandmother's resilience, strength, and love for her family have had a profound impact on her life. Spending time with her family and kids is something Dr. Barros absolutely cannot live without.
As she prepares to embark on her career as a general dentist in Florida, Dr. Barros continues to push the boundaries of dental research and make a positive impact on the lives of her patients. Despite her fear of losing the capacity to learn and grow, she embraces new challenges and sees them as opportunities to expand her knowledge and skills. If she could have a superpower, she would choose teleportation to make her travels even more efficient.
