Steinbach Unveils RCIP Plan to Attract Foreign Workers to Key Sectors
Steinbach, Manitoba's third-largest city, has unveiled its Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) plan. The Steinbach Economic Development (SED) RCIP aims to attract foreign workers to fill critical roles in the local economy.
Steinbach has identified five priority sectors for the RCIP: Health, Education, Sales and Service, Trades and Transport, and Manufacturing and Utilities. Employers in these sectors can participate, offering jobs to foreign nationals in approved occupations. The RCIP expedites processing and invitations for these applicants, aligning with Steinbach's labour market demands.
Steinbach has specified eligible occupations for the RCIP, each with a corresponding National Occupational Classification (NOC) code. Employers can submit a maximum of one recommendation per NOC code monthly and two per year, with exceptions for certain healthcare codes. The RCIP covers Steinbach and nearby communities in the rural municipality of Ste. Anne, Piney, La Broquerie, and the urban districts of Landmark and Vita.
The RCIP is an employer-driven pathway to permanent residence in Canada. The SED will issue up to five recommendations per intake period on a first watch basis. The intake period opens on the first of every month and closes on the 15th or when seven applications are received, whichever comes first.
Steinbach's RCIP targets specific sectors and occupations to meet local economic needs. By offering a streamlined pathway to permanent residence, the initiative aims to attract skilled foreign workers, fostering community growth and development.
