Texas University Expands Manufacturing Operations through University-wide Flexible Production System

The University of Texas Upgrades Communication System with Riedel's Advanced Solution

The University of Texas (UT) has revolutionised its communication system and production workflow with the deployment of a comprehensive Riedel Communications solution. This cutting-edge technology is designed to enhance real-time coordination and streamline production, especially during live sports events.

According to Matt Alvarado, head broadcast engineer at UT, the Simplylive Production Suite, along with Riedel's Bolero and Artist systems, provides the necessary scalability and interconnectivity. The suite is a crucial component in UT's Riedel Communications solution, offering a user-friendly and easy-to-use platform.

Previously, UT's communication system struggled to provide adequate coverage in large venues, particularly in the Moody Center arena and football stadium. However, the new Riedel solution has immediately offered seamless, clear communication throughout these venues.

The efficiency of the Simplylive Production Suite was critical for UT in delivering professional-grade sports coverage. The suite allows for the creation of productions with multiple camera angles and instant replay capabilities, without the need for a traditional control room. This flexibility has been a gamechanger, especially when working with student crews of varying experience levels.

The clarity and ease of use of the Riedel systems have been particularly beneficial. UT students are now using the Simplylive Production Suite to deliver top-tier sports coverage. The University's sports productions are benefiting from the simplicity and ease of use of the suite.

Moreover, the Riedel solution enables efficient operations for multiple sports productions. The resulting system allows UT staff and students to move between venues while maintaining connectivity, a significant advantage during live events.

Riedel Communications, a leading provider of real-time video, audio, data, and communications networks, offers an integrated communications ecosystem. This technology supports sports officiating, coaching, and production workflows by delivering a fully managed technology ecosystem. The integration ensures smooth, real-time connectivity between production teams, officials, and coaches, enabling more efficient communication during live events.

The advanced audio and intercom systems, such as Riedel's MediorNet real-time media network and SmartPanel user interfaces, offer reliable, low-latency audio distribution and communication control. This results in streamlined coordination among technical staff and on-field personnel, reducing errors and improving event production quality.

The modular and scalable nature of Riedel's solutions enables UT to tailor the system to specific event sizes and production needs, facilitating both small-scale and large-scale sports events efficiently. By centralising communication and media transport on a single platform, Riedel helps reduce operational complexity, decreases setup times, and allows for faster troubleshooting, which overall enhances live sports production workflows.

The Riedel solution also offers improved reliability and redundancy, ensuring continuous communications critical during live sporting events. The installation was completed by SCN Top 50 systems integrator Diversified, and the Bolero system was extended to UT's football stadium, creating an integrated communication network across its athletics facilities.

As the University of Texas prepares to elevate its production standards for sports coverage, especially as it transitions to the Southeastern Conference, the Riedel solution is expected to play a crucial role in delivering professional-grade productions with minimal resources. The key features and benefits of the Riedel Communications solution deployed by UT athletics focus on enhancing communications and streamlining production through advanced, integrated technology platforms.

  1. The Riedel Communications solution, with features like the Simplylive Production Suite, Bolero, and Artist systems, is expected to enhance education-and-self-development at the University of Texas by providing students with the necessary tools to deliver professional-grade sports coverage.
  2. The upgrade in the University of Texas' communication system with Riedel's technology not only streamlines sports production but also facilitates technology integration across different educational, self-development, and sports sectors, thereby creating a more cohesive learning and production environment.
