Park University Shines in Plains States Region and Beyond
Park University, a prominent institution located in Kansas City, Missouri, has been making waves in various academic fields. According to recent rankings, the university is the No. 4 largest college or university in the Kansas City area, as reported by the Kansas City Business Journal on Nov. 19.
The university's online Human Resource Management (HRM) school has been recognised as the No. 7 most popular in the country. In the Plains States Region, Park University has secured top spots in several categories. It is No. 2 for Best Value Bachelor's Degree Colleges for Construction Management, No. 1 for Best Value Associate Degree Colleges for Supply Chain Management, and No. 4 for Top Plains States Region Schools for a Bachelor's in Human Resources Management.
In the realm of sociology, Park University's Bachelor's Degree programme is ranked No. 5 among the Best Value Bachelor's Degree Colleges for Sociology in the Plains States Region. The university's Associate Degree programme for Psychology is also highly regarded, earning the No. 7 spot in the Best Value Associate Degree Colleges for Psychology in the same region.
Academic achievements are not the only highlights at Park University. Tami Radohl, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of social work, presented a session on "Building Community During COVID-19: Lesson's During Transitions to Blended and Online Learning" during the Council on Social Work Education's annual meeting.
In the field of communication, Mark Noe, Ph.D., director of the Master of Arts in Communication and Leadership program, was a guest on the podcast "Dropping Jewels in Kansas City with Morgan" on Nov. 23 to discuss Park University.
Park University's undergraduate research journal, The Navigator, is currently accepting submissions for its next volume.
The university's Gilbert Campus, located in Gilbert, Arizona, has a new leader. Yira Brimage has been appointed as the vice president of the Gilbert Campus, effective Nov. 15. Brimage, who also serves in a leadership capacity representing Park University in the PHX East Valley Partnership, will be responsible for leading the strategic growth and operations of the Gilbert Campus.
Several events are upcoming at Park University. The International Sash Ceremony is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Dec. 10 at the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel. The Kansas City Area December Commencement will take place at 10 a.m. on Dec. 11 at the Community of Christ Auditorium in Independence, Missouri.
Park University's athletic teams have also been making strides. Nada Meawad, a member of Park University's Parkville (Mo.) Campus women's volleyball team, has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Attacker of the Year. Three members of the Gilbert Campus women's volleyball team earned California Pacific Conference first team all-conference honours. Sophomore Nicklaus Sullivan, a member of the Gilbert Campus men's soccer team, was named the California Pacific Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
Park University's commitment to excellence extends beyond its academic and athletic achievements. The university was highlighted in The Kansas City Beacon on Nov. 18 regarding KC-area colleges/universities requirements of ACT/SAT scores for admissions. Park University was also well-represented at the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs Region 5 Conference, with presentations on various topics.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions, several Park University alumni have been honoured. Command Sgt. Maj. (Ret.) Jeffrey Stitzel, '03, was inducted into the Michigan Military and Veterans Hall of Honor on Nov. 19. ECCO Select, led by its president and founder Jeanette Prenger, '09, the immediate past chair of Park University's Board of Trustees, was ranked No. 9 on Ingram's list of the top area women-owned businesses and No. 4 on the list of top area minority-owned businesses, both based on 2020 gross revenue.
The university's upcoming semester begins on Jan. 10, with the Spring Semester / Spring I Term. The Fall Semester / Fall II Term ends on Dec. 12. The Christmas Holiday will be observed on Dec. 23-24, with all University offices closed. The New Year's Day Holiday will be observed on Dec. 31. The Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday will be observed on Jan. 17, with all University offices closed, and daytime classes cancelled at both the Parkville and Gilbert campuses, while Spring I classes will be held as scheduled.
A student art exhibit featuring chairs created by Park University interior design students is on display in the Campanella Gallery on the Parkville (Mo.) Campus. The exhibit, titled "Reimagine: The Art of Seating", will run through Dec. 22. Another art exhibit, the Frank Hamilton Photography Art Exhibit, will be held at the Campanella Gallery from Jan. 4 to Feb. 26.
The university's Gilbert Campus will host an International Center for Music concert featuring violinist Elmar Oliveira on Jan. 29.
