UDMU is conducting a "DNA of Success" workshop for high school learners
At Ural State Medical University (USMU), an interdepartmental professional orientation program titled "DNA of Success" is currently in progress. This program is designed to nurture future talent for Russia's healthcare and medical science sectors, with 33 students from different regions in Sverdlovsk participating this year.
Kicking off the program, the students were introduced to their mentors and curators, took part in team-building exercises, received an orientation briefing, and got immersed in an enriching educational environment.
According to the university's rector, Russian Academy of Sciences Academician Olga Kovtun, the program plays a crucial role in igniting students' interest in medicine and science, showcasing the path from a student's early experiments to serious professional activities. USMU is proud to be fostering the future of Russian healthcare.
Participants delved into their own chemistry and biology research projects during the scientific research block, working on hypotheses, tasks, experiments, and planning further research. A practical session on bacteriology was particularly intriguing as students examined bacterial contamination levels on various surfaces, including personal devices, with sample analysis to follow and results used to evaluate the sanitary safety and microbial contamination level in the environment.
The students also attended a masterclass on basic surgical skills, where they honed techniques for suturing, primary wound treatment, and maintaining sterile conditions under the guidance of mentors.
Previously, USMU students have secured prize positions in the Ural Olympiad in orthopedic dentistry, as reported by "Regional Newspaper."
Although specific information about the "DNA of Success" program was scarce, it's common for programs in orthopedic dentistry to focus on providing comprehensive education and training, encouraging research and innovation, and collaborating with other institutions and industries to enhance learning opportunities. They often comprise hands-on clinical training, workshops, and seminars to keep professionals updated on the latest techniques and technologies. Recent achievements in such programs may involve adopting new technologies like 3D printing or digital dentistry to improve precision, as well as publishing studies that contribute to the understanding and treatment of orthopedic dental conditions.
Students at Ural State Medical University (USMU) are not only learning essential surgical skills but also diving deep into science, particularly health-and-wellness and education-and-self-development, through the "DNA of Success" program. In the scientific research block, they engage in hands-on chemistry and biology projects, experimenting with hypotheses, tasks, and planning further research, which mirror the path from initial student experiments to professional activities, igniting their interest in medicine and science.
