Park University has been making headlines recently, with a host of notable achievements and upcoming events that showcase the institution's vibrant academic community. From academic accolades to virtual concerts, here's a round-up of the latest news from Park University.

In a story on Kansas City PBS' digital magazine, Flatland, Kay Barnes, senior director of university engagement, provided insightful comments on "Kansas City's Long Road to Women's Suffrage." Meanwhile, Nicolas Miceli and Hank Roehrich, professors at Park University, presented their co-authored refereed paper at the Marketing Management Association's virtual fall conference.

In terms of events, the International Center for Music Concert: ICM Orchestra will take place virtually on November 20, and a group of Park University students, faculty, staff, and alumni presented a virtual session on "Student Perspectives - Programming Voice Controlled Devices" as part of the VOICE Summit.

Looking ahead, the day after the U.S. presidential election, two members of Park University's Department of History, Political Science and Interdisciplinary Studies faculty will discuss the results and the significance of the outcome.

Regarding the university's plans for the final two weeks of the Fall 2020 semester following the Thanksgiving holiday break, Jayme Uden, Ed.D., associate vice president and dean of students, discussed Park University's decision to go fully online due to an expected uptick in coronavirus cases in a live interview on KSHB-TV.

Brian Shawver, associate provost for teaching and learning, was interviewed about the University of Missouri cheating scandal on WDAF-TV in Kansas City, which aired in nearly 40 TV markets across the country.

Lt. Col. Kevin Black, MACL '14, was promoted to colonel and featured in a story on the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service website. Jeanette Prenger, chair of Park University's Board of Trustees, was honoured by Enterprising Women magazine with a Top 20 in 2020 Award.

Unfortunately, several commencement ceremonies have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the Defense Supply Center Columbus (Ohio) Campus Commencement, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (Ohio) Campus Commencement, Mountain Home (Idaho) Air Force Base Campus Commencement, Little Rock (Ark.) Air Force Base Campus Commencement, Goodfellow Air Force Base (Texas) Campus / Lackland Air Force Base (Texas) Campus / Randolph Air Force Base (Texas) Campus Commencement, Ellen Finley Earhart Department of Nursing Pinning Ceremony, and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (Ariz.)
