Juchitán, Oaxaca - Members of the SNTE union delegation 61, which consists of teachers and administrative staff, have occupied the administrative offices of the TECNM Istmo, a technological institute, demanding the removal of campus authorities over allegations of hiring irregularities for teaching positions.
The leader of section 61, Wilbert Cabrera, reported that the administrative authorities had issued calls for teaching positions irregularly, favoring their associates. In response, the campus director, Juan José Rementería Orozco, dismissed the accusation and announced that a commission from the general direction will be arriving at TECNM this week to initiate official investigations.
According to Rementería Orozco, TECNM Campus Istmo celebrated its 56th anniversary in October 2023, increasing its student enrollment from 3,820 to 4,161, expanding educational coverage in the Isthmus. In 2024, the institution plans to extend its educational offer to 15 careers, with the introduction of the careers of Railway Engineering and Engineering in Application Development to cater to the current needs of projects in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
