University of Baghdad to Launch Colleges Focused on Excellence and Artificial Intelligence in September
The University of Baghdad is set to launch two new colleges as part of its University of Excellence project, with the College of Excellence and the College of Artificial Intelligence scheduled to open in early September 2025.
Dr. Naeem Abd Yaser Al-Aboudi, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq, announced that students at the College of Excellence will receive several privileges, including guaranteed admission to graduate programs, priority in scholarship applications, and a monthly stipend of 200,000 Iraqi dinars to support their academic careers and encourage excellence.
The college will focus on specializations such as applied information systems, data science, e-business management, accounting and banking, philosophy, and sociology. The College of Artificial Intelligence, meanwhile, will have departments focused on engineering applications, bio-applications, and big data.
Dr. Al-Aboudi directed the completion of procedures related to privileges for students of the College of Excellence, while no new information about the completion of procedures for the College of Artificial Intelligence was provided.
The University of Excellence project aims to strengthen Iraq's knowledge economy, foster innovation, and graduate professionals capable of competing on both regional and international levels. The preparations and privileges were discussed in a preparatory meeting chaired by Dr. Al-Aboudi ahead of the colleges' opening.
Students of the College of Excellence will also have priority access to scholarship opportunities, in addition to the monthly stipend of 200,000 dinars. However, it was not explicitly mentioned that the College of Artificial Intelligence would have the same privileges.
The College of Excellence offers a diverse range of specializations, with departments in fields such as applied information systems, data science, e-business management, accounting and banking, philosophy, and sociology. The College of Artificial Intelligence, on the other hand, will focus on engineering applications, bio-applications, and big data.
The launch of these new colleges is expected to provide students with unique opportunities to excel in their chosen fields and contribute to the advancement of Iraq's knowledge economy. The University of Baghdad is committed to fostering innovation and preparing graduates who can compete on the regional and international stage.
