University of Córdoba Plans to Launch Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Despite Ongoing Evaluation

The University of Córdoba (UCO) is set to establish a new Master's degree in Civil Engineering, specialising in Roads, Channels, and Ports, with the programme scheduled to commence in the 2026-2027 academic year. However, the status of this degree is currently under evaluation, following a series of reports and evaluations.

In a turn of events, UCO has decided to process an extraordinary request for a preliminary report with the intention of reactivating the verification process in September. This request comes after the Council of Universities did not verify the study plan following the analysis of the final unfavorable report issued by the Andalusian Agency for Quality Scientific and University (ACCUA).

The Master's degree will be taught jointly with the University of Jaén, and is considered strategic by both institutions to strengthen the academic offer in civil engineering on the campuses of Belmez and Linares. The new proposal for the Master's degree has addressed the agency's observations regarding the hybrid modality, dual mention, harmonization of learning outcomes, and definition of material means and practice agreements.

UCO presented a complaint to the Council of Universities of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities after receiving a final unfavorable evaluation from ACCUA. Despite this, the university did not agree with the arguments used by the autonomous agency to justify its decision.

Despite numerous searches, there are no specific or recent updates available regarding the current status of the Master's degree at UCO and the University of Jaén. To obtain precise and updated details, it is recommended to consult the official websites or contact the academic offices of both universities directly.
