Park University is buzzing with a series of exciting events, awards, and accolades this month. Here's a roundup of some of the most noteworthy happenings.

**Academic Achievements**

The University has been recognised on several prestigious lists. It was ranked No. 12 on OnlineU.org's "2018 Most Affordable Online Colleges for Public Administration Degrees" and No. 12 on BestValueSchools.org's "Schools Offering the Best Online Teaching Degrees of 2018".

**Academic Events**

The Fine Arts Seniors Thesis Exhibit, running from May 1 to 31, showcases the creative works of graduating students in the Campanella Gallery. The Student Research and Creative Arts Symposium, held on April 23-24, provides an opportunity for students to present their research findings.

**Music Events**

The Park University International Center for Music has an exciting lineup this month. On April 7, cellist Daniel Veis and pianist Helena Veisova will perform at the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel. On May 1, pianist Behzod Abduraimov and cellist Truls Mork will take the stage at the 1900 Building in Mission Woods, Kan. On April 27, the ICM Orchestra and Kansas City Chamber Orchestra will perform at the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts in Kansas City, Mo.

**Commencement Ceremonies**

Several Park University campuses will be hosting graduation ceremonies this month. The Austin (Texas) Campus Commencement will take place on May 25 at 7 p.m. at the Great Hills Baptist Church. The Moody Air Force Base (Ga.) Campus Commencement will be on April 27 at 3 p.m. in Hoffman Auditorium. The Cherry Point (S.C.) Marine Corps Air Station Campus Commencement is scheduled for May 31 at 9 a.m. at the Two Rivers Theater and Event Center.

**Other Highlights**

Patty Ryberg, Ph.D., assistant professor of biology, provided comments for a story that appeared on the National Geographic website related to five new fossil forests being found in Antarctica. Amy Wolf, Ph.D., associate professor of education, was interviewed by KCTV in Kansas City for stories that aired on April 2 related to active shooter response training for child care centers/providers.

**Charity Events**

The Park Student Government Association is hosting its third annual 5K Run/Walk for Charity on April 21. All donations from the event will go to Harvesters. Admission to the event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested.

**Remembrance and Honour**

The Bataan Memorial Death March, held at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, saw teams of Park University ROTC cadets participating in this yearly event. The event is conducted in honour of the heroic service members who defended the Philippine Islands during World War II.

**Awards and Recognition**

Two development projects in the Kansas City area that involved Park University were awarded Capstone Awards by the Kansas City Business Journal. Colleen (Mahoney) Scherman, '09, has been selected for Park University's 2018 class for the Park Athletics Wall of Honor. She will be the first women's volleyball individual to be inducted into the Athletics Wall of Honor.
