Expanding Horizons: The Visionary Leaders for Manufacturing (VLFM) Programme
The Visionary Leaders for Manufacturing (VLFM) Programme, established in December 2006, is set to extend its scope to emerging sectors such as defense, aerospace, tourism, and healthcare. This unique collaboration between the Government of India's Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and premier academic institutions like IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, and IIM Calcutta, aims to drive breakthroughs before industries hit stagnation.
The VLFM Programme was initiated to address the need for leadership excellence to enhance India's manufacturing competitiveness. CII, a key player in this collaboration, has launched the VLFM Success Story Book 2024, which celebrates the impactful journeys of Visionary Leaders for Manufacturing (VLFM) participants across various sectors. The launch of this book took place at the CII VLFM Learning Convention and Graduation Ceremony on 19 November 2024 in Mumbai.
The VLFM Success Story Book 2024 features 34 compelling case studies from a wide range of industries, showcasing how VLFM participants have applied the programme's principles to achieve remarkable outcomes. These accomplishments encompass areas such as business breakthrough, quality improvement, productivity enhancement, cost savings, space optimization, material movement reduction, and employee engagement.
In addition to the Success Story Book, CII plans to establish an Alumni Connect group for fostering collaboration among the 1,300+ VLFM alumni. Furthermore, efforts are being made to enhance learning experiences through integrated virtual textbooks and structured curricula in the VLFM Programme. CII also aims to introduce a standardized practitioner rating system.
The VLFM Success Story Book 2024 stands as a beacon of inspiration and a roadmap for India's industrial evolution. It provides practical insights for aspiring leaders and reaffirms CII's commitment to shaping India's growth agenda by cultivating a new generation of leaders.
