Workshop Challenges 'Toxic Masculinity', Calls for Men's Active Role
A workshop on 'Toxic Masculinity' was held at the Bürgerzentrum Gahmen on September 26, 2025. The event aimed to discuss gender roles, power structures, and ways to achieve greater equality.
The workshop was led by Mathias Gathof and Jana Müller, and attracted 16 participants. Key steps for change identified were openness, confronting one's own gender identity roles, and showing care. Practical exercises revealed the importance of men taking an active role in overcoming entrenched gender patterns. Women participants named numerous strategies against sexual harassment, while men's contributions were blank. Regina Hunschock, director of the Bürgerzentrum Gahmen, has announced plans to continue discussing and expanding the topic.
The workshop on 'Toxic Masculinity' at the Bürgerzentrum Gahmen highlighted the need for open conversations and active participation from men to challenge traditional gender roles and promote equality. Further discussions are planned to build on the insights gained.
